In this study, the feasibility and comparison of the potential of indoor temperature control based on two methods: the PMV model and the Asher standard adaptive model 55 in providing thermal comfort conditions for the design of residential buildings for different climatic conditions in Iran have been investigated and evaluated. Iranian cities are divided into 9 climates using the Köppen-Geiger climatology method. BWh, BSk, BSh and CSa climates are important climatic groups in Iran, each of which covers a large part of the country, and BWk, Cfa, CSb, Dsa and Dsb climates cover a smaller area of Iran. The environmental index parameters in these 9 climates include temperature, relative humidity, metabolic rate, and insulation of the cover. The PMV model was used for the potential of indoor temperature control, and the standard adaptive model of Asher 55 was used for adaptive ventilation. By importing the climate file of the selected cities into the software, the output results including comfort conditions, the number of hours of natural and adaptive ventilation, and other results were obtained for the 9 climates. The results showed that the Cfa and BSh climates have the lowest and highest indoor temperature control potential hours of 11 hours and 590 hours, respectively, and the CSb and Cfa climates have the lowest and highest adaptive ventilation hours of 722 hours and 1960 hours, respectively.
